Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
Q: What is a JabberJury?
A: The future jury of America.
Well, maybe. JabberJury is a website that invites users to post their disputes online. Both parties upload videos explaining their side of the dispute, and then the site opens the floor up to an online jury that then comments, and eventually votes for a winner. Users also earn "Jabbies"--credits that can be redeemed for prizes, swag, or donated to charities, which means they show up willingly and ready to work. It's the ultimate jury of one's peers.
With litigation costs skyrocketing, alternative dispute resolution is becoming more and more popular. At first, JabberJury may seem like a great way to go one step further and skip the costs and time associated with mediation and arbitration, but upon closer inspection, it's clear that litigators shouldn't worry.
Think of JabberJury like an online amalgamation of Court TV and Maury. Or any of those other daytime talk shows. These shows attract a certain kind of litigant/guest. Participants' disputes are usually heavily wrapped up in drama; they used to date, someone cheated, one person did something sketchy so the other retaliated, and by the way, who's the father? You get the picture--they'd be horrible clients to bring in front of a judge or jury. JabberJury appears to attract a similar grouping of participants.
Though JabberJury isn't a great venue for legal disputes, it is a great venue for important disputes. After all, is Arnold Schwarzenegger a better actor than a platypus?
