It's not just lawyers at the largest firms who work through the night and it's not just BigLaw partners who deserve a few workplace perks.
Thankfully, many of those perks are now available through the click of an app. Use them as recruitment tools, or for a bit of personal indulgence. Here's how you can live the high life, from your phone.
1. Concierge Medical Care
What, you were expecting a post on Uber? Please, that's small potatoes. Apps today allow you to indulge in some of the more extravagant perks once reserved for Fortune 500 CEOS. While some big shots pay $30,000 a year for gold-plated medical plans that still require them to go into their doctor's office, apps like Heal and Pager allow you to request a housecall, on demand. At $99 for an hour, that's much cheaper than your usual concierge plan.
2. Emergency Child Care
Firms like Cravath and Latham offer subsidized emergency dependent care for the times when you're stuck late and the sitter falls through. But, you don't have to work at a firm with 400 attorneys to justify this perk. A host of sitter apps, like UrbanSitter and Sitting around, allow you to easily connect with child care when you need it -- though we'd recommend vetting the candidates beforehand.
(If your pets are your children, there's also the emergency dog walking apps, Wag and Rover.)
3. Wine and Cheese
Now you can deck your conference room out like Cleary Gottlieb, with a nice spread of wine and cheese. Use VinePair or HelloVino to find the perfect wine and cheese match, then order them from your phone through any grocery or delivery app, like Instacart or Amazon Fresh.
4. Booze
Speaking of wine, plenty of firms keep a well-stocked bar and so can you. Saucey, Drizly, and Thirstie all promise booze delivered to your door in about an hour. Use it when you need that emergency bottle of champaign to celebrate a victory.
5. Catered Lunches
Anyone can order delivery to the firm these days, even from the best restaurants. Whether it's lunch, dinner, or breakfast, GrubHub and Eat24 can get it there fast, though we still prefer picking up the phone and calling in an order.
6. A Personal Chef
Sheppard Mullin's Silicon Valley office has monthly summer barbeques, according to Business Insider. And so can you, without having to spend hours cooking a pig in your office parking lot. Kitchit, one of the more ridiculous apps to come out of the most recent tech boom, allows you to summon a personal chef on demand, who can whip up a 3 course dinner for whomever you're looking to impress.
7. Personal Trainers
If all these apps are making you fat, you can also treat yourself to a digital personal trainer. Sure, it's not the same as an on-site gym, but apps like Runtastic, 6 Week Training, and Fitocracy will guide you through your workouts and keep you motivated. If you need a different kind of motivation, consider Zombies, Run!
