High Court and the Mueller Mystery Grand Jury Subpoena

By George Khoury, Esq. | Last updated on

The plot is surely thickening in the Mueller secret grand jury subpoena matter against the undisclosed foreign corporation.

SCOTUS just terminated the temporary stay that was issued on an emergency basis in favor of the mystery foreign corporation pending the Justices holding a conference on whether to take the matter up. Making matters a bit more interesting, it seems that the undisclosed corporation has also filed a petition seeking permission to seek writ in a filing under seal.

More Secret Filings

In case you aren't up to speed on the whole Mueller mystery subpoena fiasco: Basically, there's this federal grand jury subpoena out there seeking information from a foreign corporation, and that corporation does not want to comply.

While it is speculated that that this matter relates to the big Mueller probe, as of yet, nothing's been confirmed (and may never be). It seems that at best, what is known is that it involves a foreign corporation that has an office in the United States where the subpoena was served on it, and that the company can afford to pay a $50,000 per day fine. Also, it was reported that two of Mueller's team's lawyers were seen returning to the office after the very secretive hearing at the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeal.

But that could have just been coincidence, as no one was seen entering or exiting the courtroom, and attorneys, like other people, are social and don't want to spend all day at a desk or in an office.
