New SCOTUS Group Photos Delight Social Media

By George Khoury, Esq. | Last updated on

If you were on social media over the weekend, there's a good chance you saw the latest group photos of the Supreme Court Justices. The new group shots were done so as to include rookie Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

On social, more than just one well composed photo was shared. Many of the shots showed the Justices laughing, looking away, and grimacing (like that one emoji no one is really sure how to use). And thanks to the high levels of snark that social media is known for, many users, and even rather high-profile users, decided to poke a little fun at the Justices.

Oh No You Didn't Kathy!

Perhaps most notably, Kathy Griffin tweeted out an image that showed close ups on Justice Ginsburg and Justice Kavanaugh's faces, as well as the whole group. While Kavanaugh is making the emoji-grimace face, Justice Ginsburg seems to be looking rather disturbed.

The responses to Kathy's tweet are nearly as epic as her own tweet.

Justice Kavanaugh's "Smile"?

Curiously, tweeters on both sides of the partisan divide have weighed in with snarky comments, "I like beer" comments, and much much more. Sadly for Kavanaugh, his confirmation hearings were so bad, it is unlikely that he will be able to shake the cloud of controversy that marred his confirmation anytime soon. And while making fun of Supreme Court Justices may seem a little disrespectful to the High Court, the First Amendment would beg to differ.
