Kyle Busch's License Suspended 45 Days: 128 mph in Lexus LFA
A North Carolina judge revoked NASCAR driver Kyle Busch's license for 45 days on Tuesday as a result of a May incident during which he was cited for reckless driving when officers clocked him going 128 in a 45 mile per hour zone.
Busch, who at the time was test driving a $400,000 Lexus LFA lent to him by teammate Denny Hamlin, will be able to continue racing, but should plan to be watched by the Iredell County judge, who also sentenced him to serve 1 year of unsupervised probation.
Kyle Busch's sentence also includes 30 hours of community service, a $1,000 fine, and a 30 day suspended jail sentence, reports The Virginian-Pilot.
The probation, combined with the suspended sentence, means that Kyle Busch shouldn't get behind the wheel of another Lexus LFA anytime soon.
If he's caught speeding or cited for a moving violation, he will be hauled back into court, and potentially thrown in jail.
While this may seem harsh, Busch actually faced higher fines and jail time as a result of his driving.
However, he was granted a lesser sentence, as the paper reports that his attorney presented evidence that prosecutors offered plea deals to drivers cited for similar infractions.
He was not offered a similar plea, causing him to plead no contest, which is when a defendant does not admit guilt, but is allowed to be punished as though he is guilty.
Despite his decision not to admit guilt, hopefully the suspension of Kyle Busch's license will teach him a thing or two about road safety. Driving a Lexus LFA (or any car for that matter) at 128 on an ordinary highway is dangerous.
