Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
What do an alleged Shaq sex tape and kidnapping have to do with each other? According to Robert Ross, the victim of a purported gang kidnapping, the Shaquille O'Neal sex tape has everything to do with the crime.
Ross says he was a member of the Main Street Mafia Crips Gang, and is now a music promoter, reports CNN.
Seven members of his old gang tracked him down on the night of the Grammys in Hollywood in 2008, where he was kidnapped.
Ladell Rowles, one of the kidnappers, then forced Ross to drive his Rolls Royce back to Rowles' house at gunpoint, reports ABC News. Rowles then asked Ross for the Shaq sex tape, which Ross claims to have. He then stole Ross' Rolex, diamond earrings and around $15,000 in cash.
Ross claims to know the basketball star. He said he and Shaq were friends and that Shaq used to bring women to Ross' house for affairs when he was still married to Shaunie O'Neal. Prosecutors also alleged that Ross is one of Shaunie O'Neal's ex-boyfriends, according to ABC News.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office says that the sex tape doesn't exist, and that Shaq is not involved in this case at all, according to ABC News. The sex tape was all a bluff and was about a financial dispute between Shaq and Ross, according to the District Attorney's spokesperson.
Ross' kidnappers have been charged with kidnapping to commit another crime, second-degree robbery, assault with a firearm and conspiracy, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Kidnapping charges may arise if a defendant forcibly takes someone against their will from one place to another, or if the victim is confined to one space. Depending on the jurisdiction, kidnapping may require that the defendant take the victim for an unlawful purpose.
The role of the Shaq sex tape in the kidnapping has already been debunked to be mostly a bluff by victim Robert Ross. However, the charges against his alleged kidnappers still stand.
