Free Legal Aid in Los Angeles

Do you have a legal issue, but cannot afford to hire an attorney? There are many options for free or low-cost legal services in Los Angeles County. Two of the main ways to get help are either through a government-funded legal assistance program such as The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) or through one of the many nonprofit pro bono groups. There may be income limits that apply for individuals for free help. Contact the specific agency to learn more. Below is a list of several organizations available to help you.

LAFLA operates three domestic violence and family law clinics. Attorneys can provide immediate assistance to those in need in cases involving child abduction, child custody and visitation, child support, divorce, or domestic violence.
Good to Know: All clinics are located in a courthouse and are first come, first served. You cannot make an appointment ahead of time. Each clinic has different operating hours.
