    Three Rivers Legal Services is a non-profit organization that offers free legal services to income eligible clients in 17 counties in North Florida. Lucky for Gainesville residents, its main office is located in Gainesville. Practice areas they assist with include: foreclosure law, consumer law, domestic violence, education, elder law, employment law, family law, public benefits, housing, small claims, homeless advocacy, and tax law for low-income taxpayers.

    Florida Institutional Legal Services provides legal services to people who are incarcerated or institutionalized in the state of Florida. This includes prisoners in the state system, jail inmates, detained juveniles, and individuals who have been civilly detained or committed.

    The Florida Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service is a way for people who need a Florida-licensed attorney to obtain a referral they can trust from the bar association. For a low fee (usually $25), a person can apply for a referral and arrange an initial 30-minute consultation with a licensed attorney who is familiar with the individual’s legal issue.
