Louisville Courthouses

Last updated: September 30, 2013

Louisville. It’s the largest city in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the fourth largest city in the United States boasting a population of over 2 million people. The city is notable for many things -- the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Abbey River Road, the largest Beatles Festival in the world, and the infamous Louisville Slugger.

If you’re a “Louisvillian” living in the Derby City, you know there are a myriad of courthouses within Jefferson County. If you have a criminal, civil, probate or family law matter, it’s likely in one of the circuit or district courts.

Here we’ve highlighted several key court systems you’ll most likely encounter: the Kentucky Court of Appeals, the Jefferson County Circuit and District Courts, the U.S District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
