New Orleans hosts courts of all levels, city, state and federal. City courts include the New Orleans Municipal and Traffic Courts. There are also three Orleans Parish courts: two parish courts for civil cases and one for criminal cases. New Orleans also has the distinction of housing both the Court of Appeals for the Fourth District of Louisiana and the Supreme Court of Louisiana, the highest court in the state. Additionally, if you’re looking for federal courts, New Orleans contains a U.S. District Court, a bankruptcy court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
