Long Island Courthouses
Last updated: September 27, 2013
Robert Moses had a vision. He set out to give Long Island's settlers all of the comforts of modern life with easy access to the City That Never Sleeps. Fast forward to today, and Nassau County is one of the nation's most productive counties in the nation. Long Islanders get things done! Accordingly, we have an efficient court system in Nassau to keep things in order.
The state and local courts in Nassau county make up part of New York State's 10th Judicial District. This system handles New York civil and criminal matters. In the federal court system, Nassau sits in the Eastern District of New York. The Eastern District does not feature any courthouses in Nassau County, so county residents instead must travel either to Brooklyn or Central Islip in Suffolk County for a federal court appearance. But again, whether we have to take the LIRR or drive on the parkway, we'll get it done.
