Home of the Steelers, the Pirates and over 20 colleges, Pittsburgh is a vibrant metropolis with historical charm and modern attractions.  The city of Pittsburgh is also home to over 350,000 people, many of whom will face legal issues that require the help of a legal professional. Legal help can be expensive, but there are legal aid organizations and law firms that can help. Below is a list of organizations that offer free or low-cost legal help to qualifying residents of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.

    A non-profit law firm, Neighborhood Legal Services Association gives low-income people in Pennsylvania low-cost or free legal help with a broad range of legal issues, including:

    • Landlord/Tenant disputes and evictions
    • Public and subsidized housing
    • Foreclosure issues

  • Pennsylvania Health Law Project (PHPL)

    PHPL helps low-income consumers, the elderly and disabled get access to affordable health care and gives them free legal advice about insurance problems, including denial of eligibility for Medicaid and denial of medical services by insurers, as well as health care debt.

  • Allegheny County Bar Association Juvenile Court Project

    The Juvenile Court Project offers free legal representation to parents who are at risk of losing their parental rights in Juvenile Court dependency proceedings.

  • Immigrant Services & Refugee Resettlement Program

    The Immigrant Services & Refugee Resettlement Program offers legal advice and representation to immigrants and refugees. Run by the Jewish Family and Children's Service of Pittsburgh, the program offers free legal consultations for immigrants and refugees who need help with naturalization, resettlement or other immigrant-related legal issues.

  • Community Justice Project (CJP)

    Community Justice Project is a non-profit law firm that protects the civil rights of low-income people in Pennsylvania through impact litigation.
