People are likely to have a strong opinion, one way or the other, about Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast, founder of a social media company and creator of a YouTube channel with over 450 million subscribers. For those who missed the Beast Games competition show or are oblivious to the YouTube star's pranks, stunts, or philanthropic work, a sexual harassment lawsuit against his MrBeast production company may serve as an introduction to one of the most influential people on the planet and the accusations his companies face.

On April 21, 2026, former employee Lorrayne Mavromatis filed a civil complaint in U.S. District Court against MrBeastYouTube, LLC., and GameChanger 24/7, LLC. The new lawsuit alleges that the lack of an employee handbook led to a hostile work environment for female employees that was more like a frat house than a safe office space. Mavromatis also claims that she was demoted after complaining about rampant sexual harassment, and later terminated without cause after speaking with the HR department about being forced to work during her maternity leave, in violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

The allegations in the lawsuit paint a picture of a heavily "Bro-centric" work environment, with former CEO James Warren (Donaldson's cousin) identified as one of the worst transgressors. The company, which has over 700 employees, has denied the claims and stated that Mavromatis's claims are "false statements." Unless a settlement or dismissal is reached, an entirely different kind of Beast Games may play out in a North Carolina federal courtroom in the near future.

Your Grandparents Probably Don't Know Who He Is

Donaldson's rapid ascent to megastardom serves as an example of how to achieve success in the new, ever-evolving digital world. After dropping out of college in 2016, Donaldson focused on figuring out YouTube's recommendation algorithm. He'd already been posting content and had close to 30,000 subscribers, but his numbers began exploding on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram over the ensuing years as he developed the MrBeast brand.

His videos are often a combination of "Jackass" and "The Gong Show." Common themes include giving people a chance to win substantial money through risky or controversial tasks, conducting repeated experiments on certain items (referred to as "junklord"), or giveaways through games or contests that offer significant prizes. Perhaps the best-known of these is the Beast Games, an episodic reality show/competition on Prime Video that offered a $5 million prize to its contestants during the first season.

Donaldson is famous for stunt programming. MrBeast became the first to livestream a National Football League (NFL) game for free, and the brand also sponsored sporting contests that allowed ordinary people to compete for money against soccer stars like Ronaldo and Neymar. On the food front, the company offers Feastibles (chocolate bars), Lunchly (a competitor to Lunchables), and MrBeast Burger (through 2024). The YouTuber is also known for his charitable work for Team Trees, Team Seas, Team Water, and other philanthropy campaigns.

Sounds Like an Episode of Mad Men

Despite a flourishing outward appearance, Mavromatis' lawsuit claims that the corporate structure at MrBeast Productions was misogynistic and unprofessional. Hired as the Head of Instagram for MrBeast in August 2022, Mavromatis was promoted to Head of Creative 10 months later and was soon earning $250,000 per year as COO of the Verticals division. However, it wasn't all smooth sailing.

Mavromatis's suit claims that MrBeast had no employee handbook, instead distributing a booklet entitled "How To Succeed in MrBeast Production," also known as the "Beast Bible." In addition to a section titled "It's Okay for the Boys To Be Childish," the handbook contained guidance that included [sic]:

  • If "talent wants to draw a dick on the white board in the video or do something stupid, let them"
  • Do "everything you can to empower the boys when filming"
  • No Does Not Mean No
  • The Amount of hours you work is irrelevant

The complaint states that sexual harassment was common in the workplace, with female employees being treated differently from their male counterparts. Much of what Mavromatis encountered involved Warren in his role as CEO, including his commenting on her appearance, insisting on meetings between them at his house instead of in the office, and claiming that she never worked with Donaldson because "she is a beautiful woman and her appearance had a certain sexual effect on Jimmy."

When informed that a visiting male client had made unwarranted advances, Warren allegedly told Mavromatis that she should be "flattered by being given attention by a billionaire." She was also ordered to "find a beer" for Donaldson, a task she claims was done to deliberately demean her. The suit notes that Mavromatis was yelled at to "shut up" by a male during a conference, ordered to leave an otherwise all-male meeting, and observed male employees laughing and mocking female contestants in Beast Games who were seeking feminine hygiene products.

With no employee handbook in place and reporting protocols unknown, Mavromatis filed complaints with the HR Department. Soon after, she was demoted from overseeing a staff of 50 and a $500,000 budget to a position in merchandising, which the lawsuit claims was a career dead end within the company.

When she became pregnant in 2025, she discovered that MrBeast Productions had no system or policy for maternity leave. In fact, she would be the first employee to take leave under the FMLA. However, the lawsuit alleges that she was expected to work while out, which included a phone meeting while she was in labor and spending 10 hours working a merchandise booth just three weeks after giving birth. A month later, she was told to travel to Brazil for a work event. She did so, fearing she'd be fired if she refused.

On November 6, 2025, three weeks after returning to work, Mavromatis was told that her position was being eliminated because she was "too high caliber" for it. While the company was conducting a job search for a Social Media Content Manager role, she was not even offered an interview. MrBeast Productions offered her a severance package requiring Mavromatis to release all employment claims and sign a strict confidentiality agreement, dangling an extra month of medical coverage for her and her child as an enticement. She declined, instead filing suit five months later.

Probably Not Going To Accept a Settlement Payment in Feastibles

The four counts in Mavromatis's suit accuse Beast Productions and GameChangers 24/7 of FMLA interference and retaliation, along with intentional infliction of emotional distress (IIED) and wrongful discharge under North Carolina law. She's requested a jury trial and is seeking lost wages and benefits, as well as liquidated damages, and, on her non-FMLA claims, compensatory and punitive damages.

Mavromatis also demands either reinstatement to her former Verticals position or equal compensation. Given the work environment she alleges, she might be much better off with the latter.
