An Oregon couple having sex in a car parked outside a city jail were themselves taken to jail after their vehicular tryst caused traffic to back up.
Kelli Knutson, 24, and Logan Jackson, 33, had been at a local strip club in Springfield, Oregon, reports KVAL-TV. When the couple left the club and walked back to their car, they say they got "caught up in the moment," according to police.
Knutson and Jackson apparently weren't the only ones enjoying the moment.
Motorists Slowed Down to Watch
According to a police department press release, a caller reported that a couple having sex in a car parked outside of the city jail was causing traffic to back up. When officers responded to the area, they found Knutson and Jackson still inside the car and "still actively engaged" in... you know.
The couple was cooperative, police told KVAL, and under normal circumstances, would have been released with a warning and told to move on.
But due to the complaint regarding traffic, police say they were forced to arrest the couple and charge them with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.
Indecent Exposure
Indecent exposure is a crime that typically requires that a person expose his or her genitals in public, causing others to be alarmed or offended. Under Oregon law, a person commits public indecency when in or in view of a public place, the person exposes his or her genitals with the intent of arousing the sexual desire of the person or another person, or performs "an act of sexual intercourse."
Public indecency is a misdemeanor under Oregon law, punishable by as much as one year in jail and a fine of up to $6,250. Jackson was taken to Lane County Jail, while Knutson was walked into the Springfield Municipal Jail, outside of which the couple had already been parked.
