Snooki Loses License to in Italy: Another Snooki Lawsuit Coming?
Snooki crashes car into police in Italy, Snooki loses license. Seems about right, right? But now the Italian police that she injured in a crash may have grounds to pursue their very own Snooki lawsuit against the pint-sized reality TV star.
Snooki recently crashed her car into a local cop car in Florence during the filming for Jersey Shore Italy. Two police officers, a male and a female, were only slightly injured in the crash, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Snooki was not formally arrested and reps for Jersey Shore and the Italian police found that no alcohol was involved in the accident. In fact, the police were driving a cop car designated to escort the Jersey Shore crew.
Of course, in what seems like quite a logical move, the Italian police have automatically revoked Snooki's license for up to 15 days. That's right, Snooki loses her license in Italy - because she slammed her car into some Italian cops. Is anybody really that surprised?
Not only that, but there may be a lawsuit in the works. Snooki was cited for having followed the cop car (who was in the front) a little too closely, which is why her Fiat slammed into the police car in front of her.
How can Snooki be sued? Setting aside all the Italy-U.S. jurisdictional issues, in most car accident cases, if the accident is deemed to be someone's fault (say they were negligent), the other driver can sue them for monetary damages to compensate for injuries and/or damages.
Assuming this had happened on U.S. soil, determining whether or not a driver is negligent can factor in a variety of different elements, such as:
- the speed that the cars were going at;
- whether or not the driver obeyed all the rules of the road;
- whether the driver signaled when turning; and
- whether the driver was under the influence.
While alcohol has been ruled out, Snooki could be found negligent if she was following the cop car so closely that it was dangerous.
While Snooki loses her license (temporarily), the other cast mates of Jersey Shore can still chauffer her around, so the show probably won't suffer any delays. But for Snooki, a lawsuit may be her real worry, as the cops she injured may want a piece of her reality TV star earnings.
