Soulja Boy Car Crash: Rapper (Not His Driver) Was Driving Red Bentley

By Deanne Katz, Esq. | Last updated on

Soulja Boy seems to be changing his tune about his car crash Sunday night. The rapper originally said his bodyguard was driving the car, but now he's telling a different story.

Soulja Boy's red Bentley took a beating in the accident and he's now admitted that he was driving the car.

That doesn't mean it's clear who caused the crash. Both parties are claiming the other caused the damage and there is camera footage of the crash aftermath.

According to a passenger in the other car, Soulja Boy's car came over the double yellow line and hit the car. Soulja Boy claims that the other driver turned left against the light and hit the Bentley.

Below is TMZ's video post-crash which doesn't look good for Soulja Boy:

The video does seem to show the Bentley over the yellow line although that's not the end of the story.

It's possible the car was pushed there by impact or that something entirely different happened. Each party's statement as well as any witnesses who saw the crash will be important for determining fault.

Soulja Boy is now saying that he was driving the car, but even if the bodyguard had been driving it wouldn't change Soulja Boy's liability.

Accidents that occur when an employee is driving somewhere on behalf of an employer are the employer's responsibility according to "respondeat superior." If the bodyguard was driving, he was doing it at Soulja Boy's direction so any accident he caused would be Soulja Boy's responsibility.

The issue of blame in this car crash is already getting heated with Soulja Boy calling the other driver racist, according to TMZ. That driver, who is pregnant, was briefly hospitalized as a precaution following the crash.
