Superior Court Judge Issues Actress Lindsay Lohan Warrant for Arrest

By Kamika Dunlap on May 21, 2010 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan had an excuse for not showing up to court, but it was not good enough, and a Superior Court judge issued a warrant for her arrest.

Lindsay Lohan was scheduled to appear in court and missed a mandatory hearing. Her bail was set at $100,000, the Associated Press reports.

Her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, said Lohan's passport was stolen while she was at the Cannes Film Festival and she did in fact purchase plane tickets.

But Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel didn't buy it and was not satisfied with her reason for not being in court. She said Lohan had a warrant for her arrest and that the actress has a history of missing scheduled appointments.

In addition to issuing the arrest warrant, the judge revoked Lohan's probation.

Should Lohan make bail however, several conditions will need to be met. She will be prohibited her from drinking any alcohol, required to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet and submit to random weekly drug testing.

Lohan had been on probation since 2007, after pleading guilty to misdemeanor counts of being under the influence of cocaine; no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent and one count of reckless driving.

Lohan was granted several extensions for her probation and had been warned by a prosecutor that she would face jail time if she violated her probation.

As previously discussed, an alcohol-education program notified the court the actress had violated its rules.

Lohan has attended only 10 of 13 alcohol education classes required, as reported by TMZ.

The judge ordered the actress to report to alcohol education classes once a week, but under state law, the school is only required to inform the judge if a student is absent for 21 days. Apparently, Lohan waited until the 21st day to show up for class.

According to the Associated Press, Lohan recently posted a video online claiming that she's been in compliance with the terms of her probation and could complete the required alcohol-education classes in "about two and a half weeks."
