T.I. Halfway House Stay Ends Without Fanfare in Atlanta

T.I.'s halfway house stint has come to an end -- a rather boring, uneventful end. And that seems fine with T.I.

The rapper was released from the Atlanta facility early Thursday with little fanfare.

Maybe the lack of celebratory excitement is something that T.I. has learned from his past mistakes.

Remember the last time T.I. was released from jail? He got a luxury bus and entourage to pick him up from the prison facility. Guess what that got him: another two weeks behind bars.

Apparently prison officials thought he was conducting business on the tour bus, which was a violation of his release terms.

Now that T.I. is released, the rapper can get to his TV deal with VH1. The cable channel is set to film a documentary about the rapper's release from prison, according to The New York Times.

And he has a book deal. T.I. will soon release a novel about growing up in Atlanta.

He's also set to make a few public (and private) appearances. T.I.'s spokesman says the rapper plans to host a private brunch for family and friends for his birthday. And he also plans to attend the BET Hip-Hop Awards on Saturday.

Let's just hope that T.I. remains on the straight and narrow. Lest he become the poster boy for recidivism, a term used to describe relapse into criminal behavior.

Because of recidivism and the tendency of ex-criminals to land back in prison, judges often have discretion in sentencing. First-time offenders are usually subject to lesser punishments compared to second or third-time offenders.

As for T.I., his halfway house stint and jail stay weren't his first brushes with the law. In fact, it was his second time behind bars in the past three years.
