'Wife Swap's' Alicia Guastaferro Arrested for Prostitution

Wife swapping may be questionably immoral, but it's certainly legal ... so long as money is not involved. Once you pay for sex, wife swapping or any other type of sexual encounter for money becomes prostitution, as former "Wife Swap" star Alicia Guastaferro discovered.
Just three years ago, the 20-year-old Guastaferro appeared on the relatively innocent ABC television show in which a wife and mother would be "swapped" with another family.
Her brief appearance on the show may best be remembered for her family's poor portrayal and Guastaferro's subsequent multimillion-dollar lawsuit against ABC for making her look like a brat, reports The Celebrity Cafe. Now the "Wife Swap" star may be best remembered for her prostitution arrest.
Police were tipped off about the alleged tryst when someone reported an erratic vehicle on the New York State Thruway. That car later pulled into a service station. When police arrived, the car engine was running and its occupants were sleeping.
Officers found Alicia Guastaferro and 54-year-old attorney James Doyle in the car, reports The Celebrity Cafe. When asked what she was doing in the car, Guastaferro allegedly told police that Doyle called her for sex twice a month, paying her $500 to $700 for each session.
Doyle was arrested for DUI, providing alcohol to someone under 21, and patronizing a prostitute. If convicted of the latter charge, a class A misdemeanor, the attorney could go to jail for up to a year.
Former "Wife Swap" star Alicia Guastaferro faces misdemeanor prostitution charges which can be punished by up to three months in jail in New York. It's interesting to note that the alleged prostitute in a prostitution-related offense faces less severe penalties than the alleged john. The reason for such a policy may be that without customers, prostitutes would have no business.
