Shocking Interrogation Room Video of Teen Killers Released

By Kamika Dunlap | Last updated on

Shocking video footage from an interrogation tape of two of convicted teenage killers was released Tuesday.

The tape shows the police interrogation of 16-year-old Daniel Russell and 16-year old Calvin Pearson, just 3 days after they had broken into the North Sacramento home of a 90-year-old woman and beaten her to death using her cane.

The teens broke elderly woman Marie Oliver's nose, cheekbone, eye socket, and used her cane finish her off. They took off with some of her valuables.

On the video, the two kid criminals share a pizza and drink soda while discussing how they attacked the woman in April of 2006.

During the trial in front of Judge Maryanne G. Gilliard, the prosecution played a videotape that recorded the two defendants alone together in a Sacramento police interview room.

"They laugh about it; talk about how they should have been more careful," said Deputy District Attorney Kevin Greene. "They do everything but say they're sorry for what they did."

The video even shows them guessing about how much time they would be sentenced to. They speculated they would spend one year each in jail.

Guess again.

The teens were charged as adults in a first-degree murder case that carries special-circumstance allegations of robbery and burglary.

Russell, now 18, and Pearson, who is 19, were both 16 years old at the time of Oliver's death.

The judge sentenced them to life in prison with no chance of parole.
