Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
Tiffany Trump, the first member of the reigning First Family to go to law school, will be close to home when she starts at Georgetown University next fall.
She will attend classes at the Washington, D.C. campus, which is about a mile and a half from the White House. It will be convenient and fitting for the President's daughter, who will be able to enjoy the comforts of home while going through the challenges of law school.
When the family gets together for Thanksgiving or other occasions, there will also be the tactic acknowledgment that she is "the smart one" because no one else in the family has earned a graduate degree.
"She was always a great student and a very popular person no matter where she went," Donald Trump said last year of his youngest daughter and only child with Marla Maples.
Unlike her sister Ivanka Trump and brother-in-law Jared Kushner, who have assumed jobs as presidential advisers at the White House, Tiffany Trump will arrive in Washington on her own terms. She reportedly had toured Harvard and NYU, but apparently chose Georgetown to be close to the family.
Her brother Eric Trump also attended Georgetown, where he received his undergraduate degree. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.
Tiffany Trump is different, however, from her siblings. Her older sister and brothers are products of her father's first wife, Ivana Trump, and her younger brother is the child of his third wife, Melania Trump.
According to reports, Tiffany Trump had trouble adjusting to life on the campaign trail with her family. Her mother suggested her relationship with her father was more distant compared to her siblings.
Press reports have questioned Tiffany Trump's choice to go to Georgetown, which is ranked 15th by U.S. News & World Reports. Some speculated that she would go to a higher-ranked school, such as Harvard or Yale.
Georgetown University Law Center, in a city with one of the highest costs of living in the world, is known for granting relatively few scholarships and for charging very high tuition. Given the Trump fortune, finances most likely were not part of the equation in Tiffany Trump's case.
Compared to other law schools, Georgetown's law school is also known for high job placement. Getting a job should not be a problem for Tiffany Trump either -- with or without the other Trumps.
