Top Military-Friendly Law Schools Recognized
In the world of law school rankings, William & Mary Law School has earned its stripes as the top military-friendly law school in the nation.
William & Mary is one of three law schools this year to be named among the top 10 military-friendly schools in a survey of more than 1,300 institutions. Victory Media publishes the annual rankings primarily to make life better for veterans and their families.
Daniel Nichols, chief product office for Victory Media, said the list is created each year based on research of more than 8,800 schools nationwide, as well as input from veterans, students and schools that respond to a survey.
"Our ability to apply a clear, consistent standard to colleges creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages colleges to invest in programs to provide educational outcomes that are better for veterans," Nichols said.
William & Mary ranked No. 5 among all schools. Samford University's Cumberland School of Law ranked No. 7 and Benjamin Cardozo School of Law came in at No. 10.
"Our staff and students do outstanding work every day, and the Military Friendly designation inspires them to work even harder on behalf of veterans," said Patricia Roberts, vice dean at William & Mary. "We are hopeful this will encourage more student veterans to consider applying to William & Mary Law School."
William & Mary in the News
Victory Media is not the only one to recognize William & Mary in the news recently. Justice Neil Gorsuch mentioned the law school's scholarship in oral arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court.
The justice was weighing in on a test for reasonable expectations of privacy. He reasoned out loud whether it should depend on regional and cultural norms across the country.
"Gosh, it's very complicated," he said. "Professors Baude and Stern, among many others, suggest maybe we ought to look back at that property test again."
