'Superheroes' Arrested After Halloween Brawl
It is always sad when you find out your heroes have feet of clay. And fists of steel. It is even more distressing when the superheroes we so enjoy use their powers to attack each other, as well as Connecticut police officers. Halloween in Stamford, Connecticut, may never be the same.
In the early morning hours of October 31, police were called to the scene of an outright Halloween brawl between some of the characters that were supposed to be on their side. NBC Connecticut reports the officers arrived to find Captain America, locally known as 25-year-old Michael Sanchez, beating the heck out of a man already on the ground. The battle was joined by Spiderman, aka Vincent Decaro, 21, who was pummeling the Captain.
The man pinned to the ground was Spiderman's father, who had gotten into some sort of argument with Captain America/Sanchez, NBC reports. The coup de grace occurred when Poison Ivy joined the battle. Before police could separate the male superheroes, super-villain Ivy, alter-ego of Nicole Bitterle, 18, began to hit Sanchez.
No disrespect to Ivy, but based on pictures provided by NBC, she got the worst of it.
Now for the charges. All heroes were arrested and charged with assault. Perhaps noting she landed far fewer punches, Miss Ivy/Bitterle was charged with breach of the peace. As we know from such stellar examples as Snooki, of The Jersey Shore, disturbing the peace or a breach of the peace is a relatively minor charge, based on any act likely to produce disorder or violence. Whacking Captain America during an out and out Halloween brawl, counts.
All three superheroes, sans costumes, will go before a judge on November 12. Maybe the judge can get the three to use their powers for good, not for evil.
