Teenage Suspect Caught at Home Depot Trying to Cut off Handcuffs
If you were a low-level fugitive in need of handcuff removal, where would be the first place that you would go?
To your family? A friend? How about the Home Depot located 1 mile down the road?
If you chose the last option, you might be just as stupid as Michael Jay Scott.
And that's saying a lot.
Michael Jay Scott was in a fight on Sunday morning when he was detained by Escambia County Sheriff's Office near Pensacola, Florida, reports WALA. Once handcuffed, officers took him to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Somehow Scott managed to leave undetected out a hospital side exit, after which he high-tailed it to a nearby Home Depot.
Handcuffs intact, the station reports that he tried to free himself in the middle of the store with bolt cutters, but failed miserably.
Sensing that he was attracting attention, Michael Jay Scott then fled out the back of the warehouse, hopped a perimeter fence (in handcuffs!) and attempted to hide in a nearby residential neighborhood, where he was eventually caught.
Baffled? Calm down, the tale of Home Depot & Handcuffs gets even better.
In addition to battery, Scott will now be facing the more serious charges of resisting an officer, escape, larceny and burglary, reports AOL.
Because the bolt cutters didn't work, he allegedly stole a nail file and a screwdriver from the store.
Oh, and by the way, the aforementioned Home Depot is located about 1/2 of a mile further from the hospital than a Lowes.
