Topless DUI: Fla. Bare-Chested Woman was Driving Drunk, Cops Say
Topless drunk driver Keila De Oliveira Leite was charged with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in Florida.
Yes, she was topless. And perhaps even more strange is that she was pulled over partly because she was driving under the speed limit, reports UPI.
Leite was driving around 20 miles under the speed limit, something that likely drew the attention of police, reports WPTV-TV.
Not only that, but Leite, 21, crossed over double solid lines to try to pass traffic, which caused her to almost collide into several cars. She also circled around a sheriff's deputy who was trying to stop her, reports UPI.
Leite's car, a Nissan, was also suspected to be linked to a fight on the Stuart Causeway, likely giving police even more suspicion, reports the Palm Beach Post.
There was another passenger in Leite's car, though police did not say whether or not the other woman was also in a similar state of undress.
Police were unsure as to why Leite decided to go bare on top, reports UPI. After she was pulled over, Leite failed a sobriety test, and was arrested. They also found marijuana and a marijuana pipe inside a purse in the vehicle.
Police were likely able to search inside Leite's vehicle and inside the purse because they had reasonable suspicion that Leite was hiding something illegal. Under most cases, police either need reasonable suspicion or a person's consent to search the vehicle. Since Leite's car was potentially linked to an assault, and since she was driving erratically - and topless - they probably had more than a reasonable suspicion that she might be hiding something in the car.
Keila De Oliveira Leite, topless drunk driver, was also "argumentative" about covering up her breasts when police arrested her, reports UPI. Though after her arrest, hopefully she's learned to keep her top on while behind the wheel.
