Walmart Groper Grabbed Woman Because 'Her Booty Looked So Good'

By Deanne Katz, Esq. | Last updated on

If you're going to grope someone's derriere in Walmart it's best to have an alibi ready. Something like 'that's my significant other and they consented' or 'I didn't do anything' would be helpful.

'Her booty looked so good' is not going to help with the sexual harassment charges.

Aaron Morris already tried that defense when he was arrested for misdemeanor battery. It didn't garner much sympathy.

Currently, Morris is being held at Broward County jail in Florida on $1000 bail.

Apparently no one ever taught him to keep his hands to himself.

The 18-year-old was in Walmart when he reached out and grabbed a woman's 'booty', reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Police tracked him down at a local gas station where he confessed to the crime.

While woman do like a compliment, physically 'appreciating' someone's body without permission is battery and could be considered sexual harassment in some cases.

Battery doesn't have to mean physical injury. It includes any harmful or offensive touching without consent. Even in the absence of pain or harm, courts recognize the right to physical integrity.

If someone intentionally invades your personal space that is a violation of your rights.

Morris was charged with a crime but the victim of his grabby hands could also bring a civil suit against him for non-criminal battery. Invasion of personal space isn't just a crime; you can also collect damages for it.

Hopefully the criminal charges will teach this Walmart groper that lack of impulse control is not a defense. 'Hands to yourself' isn't just for kindergartners.
