Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
If you’re interested in practicing immigration law before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, then Pincus Professional Education will be hosting their 4th Annual Immigration Litigation in the 9th Circuit Conference later this year.
According to their announcement, “This program is designed to give immigration practitioners a comprehensive overview of handling their cases at the 9th Circuit level.”
The program includes practical tips such as: drafting various motions and briefs, including procedural motions; emergency motions and substantive motions; standards of review; mediation; pro-bono counsel; preparation of oral arguments and a discussion of common mistakes.
There will also be a discussion on petitions for review and rehearing en banc, including discussion on the limited use of unpublished panel decisions.
The program also promises to provide an overview of various other issues, including jurisdictional issues that arise in the course of immigration law. Other issues discussed in the program will be the impact of criminal convictions on available relief and judicial review as well as U.S. protection law, including asylum, withholding of removal, and protection under the Convention against Torture.
Speakers include: Hon. Bruce J. Einhorn, United States Immigration Judge (retired), Pepperdine Law School; Robert B. Jobe, Law Office of Robert B. Jobe; Allison Taylor, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals; Stacy Tolchin, Law Offices of Stacy Tolchin; and Jonathan Westen, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
The event will take place in San Francisco on September 23, at the Hotel Nikko and in Los Angeles on October 6, at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. It will be an all day event in both locations, starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m.
The seminar has been approved for 6.0 hours of MCLE credit in California and 6.0 hours of Appellate Specialization Certification credit in California.
