Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
As we wrote about earlier here on Injured, former beauty queen Carrie Prejean was sued by the Miss California USA Pageant over her breast implants.
The pageant demanded that Ms. Prejean pay back the $5,200 that it gave her in order to pay for the procedure.
The spat over breast implants came after the beauty queen's initial suit against the pageant, in which Prejean claimed that she was fired from her post out of religious discrimination.
Prejean also claimed that the Miss California USA Pageant violated her medical privacy by informing reporters of her procedure.
Now, everybody's agreed to drop all claims.
According to CNN: "The legal battle between Miss California USA pageant officials and former beauty queen Carrie Prejean ended Tuesday with an agreement to drop their claims, according to a pageant spokesman."
The whole tussle started over Carrie Prejean's controversial answer about same-sex marriage during the Miss USA beauty pageant.
While officials stood by Ms. Prejean initially, they later found her to have failed to meet certain contractual obligations and terminated her from her post as Miss California.
After such growing legal acrimony, many wondered what could have caused such a quick settlement.
Well, it turns out that TMZ claims that Ms. Prejean was quick to settle because lawyers for the Pageant showed Ms. Prejean a sex tape that she made:
"We're told it took about 15 seconds for Carrie to jettison her demand and essentially walk away with nothing. As we first reported, the Pageant is paying around $100,000 to her lawyers and publicist -- a fraction of her bills. She pockets nothing in the settlement."
TMZ claims that it knew about the sex tape since the summer, but that it felt that it was too racy to post on its site.
In the meantime, CNN has confirmed that the settlement was indeed because of the sex tape: "The veil of secrecy was partially lifted Wednesday after celebrity gossip Web site TMZ reported the deal was sealed after pageant lawyers presented an 'extremely graphic' home video involving Prejean....
The source with knowledge of the settlement talks told CNN those details were accurate."
Talk about things getting ugly for the former beauty queen! I wonder if anyone will get into trouble because both sides signed a confidentiality clause during the settlement.
