Convictions of a husband and wife for conspiracy to commit money laundering involving a large-scale drug trafficking operation

US v. Reid, 09-5142, concerned a challenge to convictions of a husband and wife for conspiracy to commit money laundering and related offenses, arising from a large-scale drug trafficking operation.

In affirming the convictions, the court held that the prosecutor did not improperly vouch for the witnesses.  The court also held that the district court did not abuse its discretion in limiting the extent of the cross-examination of two prosecution witnesses concerning their adulterous sexual relationship.  Lastly, the court held that the district court did not err in the limitations placed on the character evidence offered by the husband, and the court did not improperly exclude evidence that the wife was charged in an attempt to pressure her husband to plead guilty.
