NBA Coach Mark Jackson Extorted Over Naked Pics
Athletes need to stop sending naked pictures of themselves. Mark Jackson, the Golden State Warriors coach and an ex-NBA star, had an affair with a stripper named Alexis Adams six years ago, reports The Smoking Gun. Jackson is a father of four and has been married for 22 years.
When Jackson refused to leave his wife for Adams, Adams allegedly hatched a scheme to extort him. During their almost one year tryst, Jackson committed the cardinal sin in this digital age -- he sent naked pictures of himself to Adams.
In her plot, Adams linked up with a convicted felon named Marcus Shaw and the two tried to milk the former NBA star for all he was worth.
After the initial meeting in a parking lot, Shaw told Jackson that he had the pictures and that he wanted fair compensation. He told Jackson that he paid $3,500 for the pics, and also wanted to fix his teeth and get his car out of an impound lot, reports The Smoking Gun. Jackson gave him give him $5,000 and basketball tickets.
Shaw was apparently delighted with the deal, but when Adams found out the booty he received, she was furious and told Shaw to get more. That's when Shaw reapproached Jackson just two weeks later and demanded six figures for the pictures.
By that time, Jackson was already cooperating with the FBI, and Adams and Shaw were arrested for extortion. Generally, it's illegal to threaten someone with harm or damage to reputation, such as releasing naked photos, in exchange for money. The two alleged extortionists now face felony charges.
Mark Jackson's naked pictures lead to an amateur extortion attempt by an ex-con and ex-stripper. This naked picture scandal comes just a day after Terrell Owens claimed extortion by a woman over pictures of him masturbating on Skype. This is becoming an epidemic. Are you listening Bret Favre?
