NFL Linebacker Shawne Merriman Sues Reality TV Star Tila Tequila
It's beginning to play out a lot like an episode of Reality TV, except with a legal twist.
NFL linebacker Shawne Merriman is now suing his former girlfriend Reality TV star Tila Tequila, according to TMZ.com
This comes less than two months after Tila Tequila filed a civil lawsuit claiming domestic assault against her former lover.
In his lawsuit filed in US District Court, Merriman who plays for the San Diego Chargers claims she lied about claims that he beat her up back in September in an attempt to ruin his career.
TMZ.com posted pictures of the reality TV star Tila Tequila with bruises that were allegedly given to her by ex-boyfriend and NFL linebacker. She was seeking $1.5 million in damage.
Merriman was arrested by sheriff's deputies on Sept. 6 after Tequila signed a citizen's arrest warrant accusing him of battery and false imprisonment at his suburban home.
As previously discussed, Tila Tequila also claimed that the altercation was over her concern over Merriman's drug use and temper. Tequila alleged that the NFL player slept with a minor and allowed and aided an associate to make ecstasy in his home. Tequila also said in the lawsuit that he humiliated her because of her bisexuality.
Merriman was accused of choking and restraining Tila Tequila, but there was insufficient evidence to charge him.
But the legal saga continues.
According to documents, Merriman claims that Tila Tequila admitted her lying scheme, at one time stating, "yes that is why I did a 'spin' now ... cuz now everyone is LOVINGGGG me."
However he isn't suing for defamation. Instead, Merriman is suing for intentional interference with contract and unfair competition as well as trademark infringement.
He claims Tila Tequila used his famous "Lights Out" logo on her website. Merriman also claims Tila's accusations screwed up a deal to produce a line of T-shirts for Walmart.
