NY Football Star Isayah Muller Stabbed After HS Graduation

By Stephanie Rabiner, Esq. on June 30, 2011 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

In a tragic story out of New York, Truman High star running back Isayah Muller was stabbed to death just hours after his high school graduation on Tuesday while coming to the aid of his father who allegedly started an altercation with two parking lot attendants.

Isayah's father, Andre Muller, has been charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, but due to the nature of the incident, the attendants must be indicted by a grand jury before being charged.

After Tuesday's graduation ceremony, the Associated Press reports that Muller and his family returned to their vehicle which was parked in a Bronx parking lot. On the way to a celebratory dinner, they noticed that an expensive bottle of cologne--a graduation present--was missing from the backseat.

They returned to the lot, where Isayah's father confronted the two attendants, reports the Daily News.

He allegedly hit one of them with a shovel.

Isayah Muller was stabbed twice by an attendant after he reportedly entered the argument to protect his father, according to the Daily News. One wound pierced his heart.

While Andre Muller has been charged, the attendants have not, though a grand jury has been scheduled.

This is because New York law demands that those facing felony charges first be indicted by a grand jury, who will decide whether there is enough evidence to meet standards of probable cause.

Because of the circumstances surrounding the death of Isayah Muller, chances are prosecutors may charge the attendants with second degree murder, negligent homicide, or manslaughter, all of which are felonies.
