'I'm Getting Arrested' App Inspired by Occupy Wall Street Protests
There's an app for everything these days. For example, take a look at the "I'm Getting Arrested" app available for Android phones.
Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street protests, the app lets you blast a message to a customized list of contacts.
Want everybody to know that you won't be able to make it to a family event because you just got busted? Just tap the "bull's-eye" on your Android phone's screen. The application takes care of the rest: perfect for the activist facing down the law.
Consumers can also add in their lawyer's cell phone number so they can instantly alert their attorney when they get into legal trouble.
For those who aren't protesting for a cause and aren't at the risk of sudden arrest, the app can have other uses too.
Since you can customize the message you want to send out, you can actually use the application as your own personal mass text messaging service.
Attorneys everywhere: you can customize this message to read "Sorry, I can't make it because I'm stuck in a deposition." You can then add in the contacts of your family and friends. The next time they have an outing that you can't make because of your legal obligations, you can easily send a message with a tap of your finger.
Sounds convenient right? Though the application is novel, it is somewhat limited.
So far, there is no built-in social media support, according to CNet. So you can mass text your friends and family, but you can't update your Facebook or Twitter profile with the app.
So while the "I'm Getting Arrested" app is useful, it's still not quite there yet. But since it's a free download, why not give it a try?
