Must-Have iPod Nano Wristwatch Doesn't Even Exist Yet

By Jason Beahm on December 08, 2010 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

Attorneys love their gadgets. They also love getting what they want and right now. But sometimes that just isn't possible. In the case of the iPod Nano Wristwatch, not only is it not yet available, but...gasp...it won't be available in time for the holidays.

Minimal, a company out of Chicago, has caused an internet sensation with its iPod wristwatch, though the company has not released any watches yet.

The iPod Nano Wristwatch started on Kickstarter, a website that allows anyone to pledge funding towards new ideas. Minimal posted the iPod Nano Wristwatch, and saw over $600,000 come in, CNN reports. Minimal is selling a kit that can convert the Nano into a multi-touch watch the likes of which the world has yet to see. The company originally set a goal of $15,000, but it was so popular that money came pouring in.

In fact, according to Scott Wilson, the founder of Minimal, the project is the first Kickstarter project to surpass the half million dollar mark. Here is how it works: the company has two models of the kits, one is called the Tik-Tok and one is called the LunaTik. The former is the basic version and the latter is the upgraded version made with higher end materials. You take your iPod Nano, which is not included, and snap it into place with the kit. Then, bam: You've got a super duper cool watch.

Kickstarter has a somewhat unique functionality, so if you are interested you should check out their site for all the details. Generally speaking, you can pledge on the project until December 16. $25 gets you a pre-order of the Tik-Tok kit. $50 gets you a pre-order of the LunaTik. For $70, you can get both. However, as I said, there is a catch: neither will ship in time for Christmas.
