Top 3 Cool Jobs This Week: Vacation Law

Summer is just around the corner and if you're anything like the rest of us, you're dying to get away. Maybe you'll go camping in the mountains, fly off to a tropical beach, or visit Europe again. But why be just a lawyer on vacation when you could be a vacation lawyer full-time? Sure, vacation law is a practice area we just made up, but plenty of major vacation companies and destinations are hiring. And they could be hiring you.

So, dust off your resume. As part of our affiliate partnership with Indeed, here are this week's three coolest, vacation-themed legal jobs.

1. Contracts Manager, Royal Caribbean Cruises

Three nights in the Bahamas; a week sailing through the South Pacific; a voyage through the glaciers of Alaska -- Royal Caribbean has got it all. And while you wouldn't actually be taking the cruises, you'd be essential to making them happen, as contracts manager for this billion-dollar company.

Royal Caribbean is looking for a detail-oriented, negotiations-minded contracts manager to join them in their Miami headquarters. If you got on board, you'd be responsible for dealing with a wide variety of contracts, from sales agreements to casino equipment leases. This is not an attorney-only position, so non-lawyer legal professionals with significant experience drafting, negotiating, and administering commercial contracts can throw their resume Royal Caribbean's way as well.

2. Junior Mountain Resort Counsel, Vail Resorts

If you're more into the slopes than the seas, Vail is currently hiring attorneys for its in-house legal department. Vail wants to help you "reach your peak" as you provide legal support for the company's mountain division and operations. You'll be responsible for general legal advice, compliance, and training, as well as working on public lands issues between Vail Resort's parks and the Forest Service and National Park Service.

So if you're a snow bum, apply! The location isn't actually on the slopes, but it's not far from them either. If you get the job, you'd be working out of Broomfield, Colorado, a stone's throw from Denver and Boulder and only a short drive from some of the best skiing in the world.

3. Associate Attorney (Transactional) or Associate Attorney (Marketing), Universal Studios

Of course, we can't talk about vacations (and vacation law), without talking about theme parks. And you could be an attorney at one of the busiest theme parks in the world. NBC's Universal Studios is currently hiring not one, but two associate attorneys.

The first position is in their corporate transactional division. Their transactional lawyer will be responsible for negotiating, drafting, and interpreting corporate and real estate agreements, overseeing compliance, and providing general legal support. The second is with the marketing team. That attorney will deal with sponsorships and product partnerships, oversee contract commitments, and deal with licensing for international theme parks.

And they're both entry-level. All you need is your J.D. and a sense of fun.
