Top 3 Cool Legal Jobs This Week: Harley-Davidson, Uber, ACLU
If you want to drive your career forward, there's never been a better time than now. And this week, we've got three particularly appropriate jobs for legal professionals looking to shift into the fast lane -- or just looking to find an awesome new job.
As part of our affiliate relationship with Indeed, we're bringing you three of this week's coolest, most interesting jobs, covering everything from choppers to civil rights.
As corporate counsel at Harley-Davidson, you'll basically be the equivalent of Peter Fonda in "Easy Rider" -- but, you know, as a lawyer. The job is comprised of typical in-house counsel work -- providing legal guidance, support, direction, and the like -- but for one of the most iconic companies in the world.
If you get the gig, your work will focus largely on marketing, advertising, data privacy, and commercial transactions, but your responsibilities would also include providing legal support for the Harley-Davidson Museum.
If you want to be on the cutting edge of transportation innovation, a job as part of Uber's in-house team could be for you. And you wouldn't just be managing contracts either. Uber is at the forefront of changing urban transit across the globe -- sometimes controversially -- and its regulatory team is a large part of that.
As regulatory counsel, you'd be working to help participate in regulatory rule makings, analyze draft legislation, and provide strategic and proactive legal advice on regulatory matters. Uber is looking for attorneys who thrive in "high impact, high profile" situations, with a preference for JD/MBAs.
If you're a public-minded attorney looking to impact the world for the better, the ACLU might have the job for you. One of America's largest nonprofits, the ACLU is currently hiring a staff attorney for its Center for Liberty, which encompasses its work around women's rights, reproductive freedom, LGBT rights, religious freedom, and disability rights. The Center's work is "dedicated to the principle that we are all entitled to determine the course of our lives based on who we are and what we believe, free from unreasonable government constraint and baseless stereotypes."
As staff attorney, you'll engage in federal and state litigation while managing cases, researching issues, and representing the ACLU to the public. Candidates should have at least two years of experience and a commitment to the organization's mission.
