Top 3 Cool Legal Jobs This Week: The Chicago Cubs Are Hiring
The Chicago Cubs broke their World Series curse this November, winning the championship for the first time in over a century. Now, the newly victorious baseball team is looking to pick up some new talent. Legal talent, that is.

1. Counsel, the Chicago Cubs
Alright, there's no need to talk up the Cubs as a team. But what about as an employer? As a lawyer for the Cubs, you'd be working to support the team's business operations as part of their in-house legal department. That means drafting and negotiating agreements, providing legal counsel as needed, and balancing corporate, commercial, and legal matters.
What does it take to make the team? The Cubs are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal, legal, and communication skills. Someone who can rapidly spot legal and compliance risks, and someone who knows how to balance legal and business considerations. The ideal candidate would have three to five years' experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, but they're willing to consider other attorneys as well.
2. Associate General Counsel, Sports Marketing, Nike
Keeping with the sports theme, Nike is looking for an attorney to join its in-house Sports Marketing Legal Team at its Portland-area headquarters. Imagine yourself working on Nike's endorsement, product supply, and sponsorship deals all while sporting a pair of Jordans to the office. (We're assuming lawyers can wear Jordans at the office.)
Experience with contracts or contract-intensive practice areas could be the key to landing you this gig. Nike is looking for someone with a few years of experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts. A background in M&A, finance, or commercial practice is valuable, as is experience in sports or entertainment transactions and contracts as well.
3. Attorney at Law, Multi-State Lottery Association
If you're looking to win the career lottery, well, the lottery is hiring. At least the Multi-State Lottery Association is. That's the organization behind cross-state lottery games like Mega Millions and Powerball.
