Where to Find Law Love Online

By Neetal Parekh | Last updated on
A big weekend is upon us. Chinese New Year. Valentine's Day. And President's Day.

It's enough to want to eat heart-shaped dim sum while sitting under a cherry tree.  As you head into the long weekend of festivity, here are some things law students and associates should keep in mind to make the most of eclectic celebrations.

3 Ways to Make the Most of the 3 Day Weekend:

1. Feed a tiger.

February 14, 2010 marks Chinese New Year and the ushering in of the Year of the Golden Tiger.  And for those born as Tigers (think 1962, 1974, 1986, etc.)...this is your year. According to search.com, "tiger people are difficult to resist, for they are magnetic characters and their natural air of authority confers a certain prestige on them."  And ideal professions for the oh-so-majestic tiger or tigress? Yes, you guessed it. Lawyer. Or poet, or stockbroker, or stunt person. Apparently, even tigers like to mix it up now and again.

2. Find a little law love...

Sure, you find your law on FindLaw, but planning to be alone this Valentine's Day?  A few websites strenuously object.  The world of social media and online dating doesn't want you to be alone, even for a nano-tweet.  And that is why there are entire sites dedicated to matching you with the potential lawyer love of your life. This article from the ABAJournal outlines sites such as LawDate and DateLawyer dedicated to pairing you with the perfect opposing counsel. And here, you get to be the judge.  A quick tip before you get started, how do lawyers spell endless love? (that's right p-r-e-n-u-p)

3. Answer this: How many presidents were lawyers?

Last and certainly not least is the annual nod to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., and the 44 presidents that have called it home.  President's Day is President George Washington's birthday, so after you eat a piece of cake on his behalf...riddle us this, how many U.S. presidents were lawyers. The answer according to infoplease.com is 26. And there are other fun facts too, such as 9 presidents didn't attend college, there were 8 left-handed presidents (including our current President Obama), and the heights and names of the tallest and shortest to serve as our Chief of State.

In short, to make the most of the weekend, you would do well to brush up on your presidential knowledge (#3), log on to a lawyer dating site (#2) and use said newly-acquired knowledge to impress one lucky golden tiger or tigress (#1).

Good luck.
