New Law Practice Management Tools Debut at LegalTech

By Minara El-Rahman on February 14, 2011 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

Are you looking for new technology that will help you with your practice? There are two new law practice management tools that help attorneys manage documents for e-discovery.

While there are many attorneys attempting to do e-discovery on their own, sometimes it does help to work with companies that specialize in document management. The first is DiscoverReady and the second is M-Files. Attorneys who recently attended the 2011 LegalTech Conference got first-hand views of both services.

DiscoverReady presented "Demystifying the Brave New World of Automated Review." DiscoverReady can help attorneys by helping them review millions of documents using a variety of technologies and solutions, IT News Online reports. DiscoverReady can also help lawyers identify relevant and privileged data. This can be a time saver for most attorneys because part of the problem with document review is piecing together the technology with logistics.

"The world of 'automated review' is complex, not just because of advanced technology or concepts, but also because of the practical logistics of putting these technologies and logistics into an effective and defensible workflow," said Jim Wagner, co-founder and CEO of DiscoverReady.

Some of the services that DiscoverReady offers are: document review, managed services, and consulting. For some resources about DiscoverReady, make sure to check out their site.

M-Files is another document management solution for law firms, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. It allows attorneys to organize, manage and track critical business documents using user friendly options such as tags and keywords. Users can store the documents in a centralized system. This allows lawyers to save all documents in the system and just tag them.

M-Files allows lawyers to organize a variety of legal documents and allows them to access all of it easily. "Law firms and legal practices must be able to effectively organize and manage a myriad of legal documents, including client records, case files, contracts, pleadings, depositions, resolutions, legal research, emails, scanned paper documents, and so on. With M-Files, legal practitioners become more efficient and productive because the right documents are instantly available when needed," Greg Milliken, President of Motive Systems, told the San Francisco Chronicle.

M-Files offers a free M-Files Express service, M-Files Professional, and consulting services. While attorneys need to pay for a majority of M-Files services, they do offer a free service that law firms can benefit from.

So what are you waiting for? There is a whole new world of legal management tools that could help you grow your practice.
