Chad Johnson Pleads Not Guilty to Headbutting Wife

Chad Johnson pleaded not guilty to headbutting his wife Evelyn Lozada, reports TMZ.
The former wide receiver formerly known as Chad Ochocinco faced misdemeanor battery charges related to the domestic dispute and could go to jail for up to a year if found guilty.
Johnson and Evelyn Lozada allegedly got into it after Lozada discovered a receipt for a box of condoms that were apparently not used with her.
Some say marriage is more trouble than it's worth, and that may be the case with Chad Johnson. Along with the not guilty plea in the battery charge, Johnson has been embroiled in a series of legal issues related to his marriage to Lozada:
- Name Change. Things started off great for Johnson and Lozada with Johnson even legally changing his name from "Chad Ochocinco" back to "Chad Johnson" for the sake of his then fiance. Johnson was considerate enough to realize that Evelyn Lozada may not have wanted to be known as Mrs. Ochocinco.
- Headbutt. Things quickly unraveled last month after Johnson allegedly headbutted his wife.
- Will they Divorce? Pretty soon after the apparent infidelity and alleged domestic battery, Lozada said she was moving forward with her life and filed for divorce.
- How Much Would Lozada Get in Divorce? With divorce, comes property division. There was already speculation over how much Lozada would get in the divorce given the short duration of the marriage. And now that Johnson is unemployed, and Lozada is geting paid off "Basketball Wives," Lozada may have to pay Johnson.
- Unemployment. Not wanting anything to do with a distraction (despite "Hard Knocks"), the Miami Dolphins quickly cut Johnson after the arrest became public.
You have to hand it to Chad Johnson. Despite the battery charges, not guilty plea, divorce filing, etc., the former wide receiver still wants to save his marriage. He even tattooed Evelyn Lozada's face on his leg to prove it.
