Giovanni Ramirez's Alibi: Was With His Daughter, 10

By Stephanie Rabiner, Esq. on May 26, 2011 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

Giovanni Ramirez's alibi is out, and it involves his 10-year-old daughter and a group of 8 family members and friends.

If these people are to be believed, Ramirez, arrested over the weekend for his suspected involvement in the March 31st Dodger beating that left Giants fan Bryan Stow in a coma, was actually in an East Hollywood apartment on game day, babysitting the little girl.

The news of Giovanni Ramirez's alibi comes from Chip Matthews, who the Los Angeles Times reports is an attorney representing Ramirez's daughter.

The girl usually stays with her grandmother, but because the woman had knee surgery the day prior, she was spending March 31st with her father, according to his statement.

The pair allegedly spent most of their day at an aunt's house with several family members, who are also willing to vouch for Ramirez's whereabouts.

If police have yet to speak to these purported witnesses, they have time to do so.

In order to comport with a person's rights to a speedy trial and due process, by California statute, suspects must be charged within 48 hours of arrest or be released.

However, when police located Ramirez over the weekend, the Times reports that they found that the Dodger beating suspect was not living in the apartment he had registered with parole officers.

A blatant violation of his terms of release, Ramirez is being held on a suspected violation of parole, which means that prosecutors have time to further investigate Giovanni Ramirez's alibi and his suspected connection to the Dodger beating without risking his release.
