How Does Your Legal Website Look on Mobile Devices?

By Deanne Katz, Esq. on October 09, 2012 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

If you use your smartphone to browse websites you know how frustrating it can be to visit a site that is not mobile compatible. It's clunky and hard to read and there's a good chance you'll leave and never come back.

Your website is likely a big part of how clients find out about your services. It's important to make sure they're getting the same service whether they're searching on their laptop or their mobile phone.

So, is your website mobile compatible? There's an easy way to find out and FindLaw can help.

Google's GoMo service allows you to view your site as a mobile user would see it and test its functionality based on how you intend users to see it.

If it passes the test then congratulations, you aren't losing business because potential clients can't read your site on their phones. But if not you need to figure out how to appeal to those clients.

There are two ways to make your website mobile compatible. The old method is to make a separate website for smartphones and direct clients there.

That means everyone has to see a link to your mobile-compatible website and click through and that you need to have separate web addresses for each. It also means you have to update twice as much to keep the sites the same.

The more professional way to do that is by having a responsive design that recognizes and adapts to whatever platform or browser a potential client is using to view the website.

Chances are good you aren't pulling double duty at the office as both attorney and web designed so much sure the company that does your website uses responsive design. While you're at it, ask your FindLaw consultant what else we can do for your website.

You'll be surprised by the range of services we provide.

Your website provides a window into your business so make sure it's clear no matter how clients reach your page. We'll be with you every step to ensure that what they find is a true reflection your skill as an attorney.
