The Latest in DUI Apps and Gadgets to Keep You (Sort of) Safe
For many of us, holiday cheer comes in liquid form, is often bubbly and -- gets us wasted. Oh, don't be shy. Didn't you know? Lawyers are the party animals of the professional crowd.
While you are much more tame and would never be called a party animal, that doesn't mean there will come a point in the night where you've had a few to drink, and then need to figure out how to get home -- safely.
It seems every time new technology is developed, new software soon follows, with the primary purpose of keeping you from getting arrested. In preparation for upcoming holiday celebrations, here are the latest apps and gadgets designed to keep you, and people on the road, safe.
There's an App for That
It should be noted at the outset that the apps that are designed to see whether you are sober enough to drive are often marketed as for "entertainment purposes" -- because, well, they probably have lawyers working for them. And while you should by no means totally rely on an app to give you an estimated blood alcohol reading, or keep track of your drinks, or test you to determine whether you are sober, they may come in handy. In fact, some states have gotten in on the action and created free apps to prevent drunk driving.

Mobile Breathalyzers
If you really want to be sure if you, or someone you are with, are ok to drive, then you may consider carrying around a mobile breathalyzer. These gadgets have gotten so small, you can carry a breathalyzer on your keychain, or even have a professional grade one all to yourself. More reliable than an app, these breathalyzers will give you blood alcohol level readings so you know whether you can operate a vehicle legally.
Let us be clear: There is no magic cure for drunk driving except not drinking at all, or having a designated driver that is not drinking. DUI apps should be looked at purely for entertainment value (hey, we're lawyers here too you know). We wish you a happy, and safe, holiday season!
