Which is the Best Word Processor for Your Android?

By Edward Tan, JD | Last updated on

While typing out briefs on your Android device may never be as easy as doing it on a computer, there are times when using a mobile word processor might be a necessity. But which Android word processor is most up to the task?

There's certainly no shortage of options to choose from in the Google Play Store. Each of the apps featured below are office suites, meaning in addition to word processing, they can also be used to make spreadsheets and slide presentations.

But unfortunately, not all office apps are created equal. Ready to pay a few bucks to upgrade your Android phone or tablet? Read on.

DocumentsToGo (DataViz, Price: $14.99)

DocumentsToGo was one of the first office suite applications for mobile devices. However, age doesn't necessarily make it the best. Its word processor can do bulleted and numbered list, along with tables. But beyond that, its features are pretty barebones. It also has issues displaying DOCX files, which can be a deal breaker for some people.

OfficeSuite Pro 6 + (Mobile Systems, Price: $14.99)

OfficeSuite Pro 6 + is a favorite among Android users for a reason. It supports a wide range of files types (including DOCX and PDF). The app also integrates cloud storage options, such as Dropbox, SugarSync, and Google Drive. It also has a very sleek interface and gives users access to a slew of Microsoft Word-type formatting options. All this makes Mobile Systems' app one of the best Android office suites available.

Quickoffice Pro (Quickoffice, Price: $14.99)

Quickoffice Pro is known for its vast cloud service options. But the drawback is that formatting-wise, the app's features aren't as plentiful as its competition's (particularly when compared to OfficeSuite Pro 6 +). It still offers more features than DocumentsToGo, though.

Smart Office 2 (Picsel, Price: $5.00)

Picsel's latest update to its Smart Office app brings some much needed functionality at a budget price. Cloud computing, diverse file support, and wireless printing capabilities have all been added to the program. It even comes with document templates. These features make Smart Office 2 not just a great budget buy, but one of the best word processors for Android in general.
