Welcome to FindLaw's section on the gambling and state lottery laws of Maine, which establish what type of gaming is allowed in the state, the manner in which the games may be operated, and other restrictions. While Maine prohibited greyhound (dog) racing in 1993, it still allows horse racing and off-track betting on horse races, in addition to two state-licensed casinos. As in most other states, Maine also allows nonprofits to use bingo and other games as fundraisers.
