Top 3 Cool Jobs This Week: Fashion and Retail Law

By Casey C. Sullivan, Esq. | Last updated on

If you're as comfortable watching a runway as you are drafting a contract, or as familiar with department stores as you are with the civil procedure, maybe it's time to look for a job in fashion and retail law.

As part of our affiliate partnership with Indeed, and just in time for Paris Fashion Week, we're bringing you the three coolest jobs we could find.

1. Counsel, Leasing & Retail, Louis Vuitton

Get your LV bags ready if you're looking to apply to Louis Vuitton. One of the world's biggest fashion houses is looking for an attorney to join its legal team as a leasing and retail attorney.

Actually, you might want to bring along an LV-branded construction hat, as well as your fancy bag. This position will require you to prepare and negotiation construction, lease, and vendor agreements. Additionally, you'll be in charge of offering research and advice on compliance and consumer issues. Louis Vuitton is looking for an attorney with expertise in retail leasing, with good relationship-building and collaboration skills, and a license to practice in New York.

2. Associate Counsel, Real Estate Law, Gap Inc.

Forget about that high school job you had folding shirts at the Gap. This retail job is a bit more glamorous. The Gap is looking for a lawyer with transactional or litigation experience in real estate law to join its "collaborative and fun" legal team. And you won't just be working on Gap issues, either; Gap Inc. covers five major brands, including Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Athleta.

This San Francisco-based position will require you to handle legal issues relating to leases, property management, construction, and more. Only three to six years of experience are required, with a combination of law firm and in-house work preferred.

3. Staff Attorney, Fruit of the Loom

Fruit of the Loom might not be high fashion, but it's one of the world's most successful underwear brands, or, as they call it, "basic apparel." And they've got an immediate opening for a staff attorney at their headquarters in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

As an attorney with Fruit of the Loom, you'd be working on a wide variety of projects, from regulatory compliance and international law, to contract negotiation, and litigation. All that's required is a bit of experience, membership in any state bar, and a fondness for Underoos.
