GM's Move
To address this issue, GM has advised owners of the affected models to manually ensure their tailgate is securely latched before driving until the recall remedy can be applied. Starting March 18, GM plans to notify owners of the recall, with Chevrolet and GMC dealers set to replace the faulty exterior touchpad switch assemblies with ones made of more water-resistant material, at no cost to the customer. However, it has not been made clear when the replacement parts will become available for the repairs to begin.
