Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
Today, Tuesday April 9, 2019 is Be Kind to Lawyers Day.
Regardless of whether or how you choose to celebrate "Be Kind to Lawyers Day," the fact that it is a holiday, of sorts, means that you could try and be nice to lawyers for one day each year, at least.
So, maybe there aren't any laws requiring people to be nice to lawyers, even on the questionably official "Be Kind to Lawyers Day," but that doesn't mean you shouldn't celebrate the day. It's easy to do, and will put a smile on a lawyer's face. If you are friends or family to a lawyer, consider a gift. Others might want to just be kind in other, less costly ways. Below, you can read about three appropriate and meaningful ways to be kind to lawyers that won't cost a dime.
For anyone who has ever hired a lawyer before, sharing a review on social media or one of the many sites and/or lawyer directories that allow clients to leave reviews is often greatly appreciated by attorneys, and the potential clients of those attorneys who will read those reviews. While you probably want to be mindful of your own privacy, giving the lawyers you like positive reviews can be rather helpful.
Another way to give a lawyer a shout out might be to simply share a lawyer or their firm's social media content on your social media feeds. For example, sharing a law firm's hilarious video showing one of the firm's attorneys discussing "cereal mixology" is a perfect way to show a lawyer some kindness.
Simply sending a thank you email, or a card (if you actually don't mind spending a couple bucks), to a lawyer that helped you out is a good way to do something kind for a lawyer. Despite the usually good pay, lawyering can often be a thankless job, so even if you already said thank you once or twice at the conclusion of your case, most lawyers never tire of hearing good things from clients. Receiving a note of appreciation and personal update about how a client has been since the end of their case can really be the highlight of any lawyer's day. We do like to think we're helping our clients, and, like anyone else out there, validation feels good.
Thanks in advance from the lawyers in your life and here at FindLaw for anything you choose to do on Be Kind to Lawyers Day.
