Hope Solo Allegedly Assaulted; Jerramy Stevens Not Charged

Former NFL tight end Jerramy Stevens was arrested, then released without charges, after allegedly striking Team USA soccer goalie Hope Solo on the eve of their wedding.
The two had been dating for only two months, and were set to wed Tuesday. But instead of a wedding, Solo had to appear in court as her groom-to-be faced domestic assault charges, reports USA Today.
Stevens and Solo reportedly started to argue over where they wanted to live -- Florida or Washington.
Police received a disturbance call early Monday about a fight at a party. When they arrived, Solo's brother told police that he'd used a stun gun on an unwanted guest. Police later found Jerramy Stevens hiding in a bedroom, reports USA Today.
Stevens had dried blood on his shirt and cheek, and there were signs of a fight in the bedroom, according to USA Today. Stevens first told police that the blood on his face was from a kiss from Solo, but later admitted that he and Solo had been arguing.
Given the signs of the altercation and that Solo was bleeding, police arrested Stevens on suspicion of domestic assault. But a judge in Kirkland, Wash., found no evidence connecting Stevens with a crime, and Stevens was released without charges, ESPN reports.
Police, however, say prosecutors may bring charges later if evidence turns up. Whether that happens may depend in large part upon Hope Solo's willingness to testify against Stevens. Without Solo's testimony, prosecutors may be unable to prove that there was a physical altercation between the two.
If you thought that America's sweetheart Hope Solo and NFL bad boy Jerramy Stevens were an odd couple, you are not alone. The two apparently met shortly after the Olympics, and may have bonded over the fact that they both attended the University of Washington.
As a UW grad, though, Solo may have known that Stevens had had a history of legal troubles. This includes the alleged rape of a UW student, the beating of classmate, and several alcohol related charges.
